Calcium Deficiency in Hens Leads to 15% Drop in Egg Production
A study looked at how a lack of calcium and phosphorus in the diet affected a group of 140 hens compared to a control group. The hens with deficiencies had 15.2% fewer eggs, 10.49% lower laying percentage, and weighed 410g less on average. They also had 45.10% fewer eggs suitable for incubation and 3.81% more eggs with soft or deformed shells. The affected hens had changes in egg size, shape, and weight, as well as issues with their bones and movement.
