Researchers used climate data to estimate the size and distribution of grasslands in different regions. They divided grasslands into two categories based on their distribution patterns and used precipitation and vegetation data to determine their extent. By analyzing data from the past 30 years, they were able to estimate the thresholds for grassland distribution. The study found that the distribution of grasslands in China can be determined by a combination of precipitation and vegetation coverage.
