New method revolutionizes protein structure determination in X-ray crystallography!
A new method called MR-REX was developed to help place protein structures accurately in X-ray crystallography. It uses a special search technique that improves success rates compared to existing methods. MR-REX successfully placed more structures in the right positions than the current best method, Phaser. Even when Phaser failed, MR-REX could solve the problem by adjusting some settings. This new approach offers a better way to solve complex protein structures, especially those that are not very similar to known models.
