New study reveals soil quality in Amazon Basin impacting agricultural productivity.
The study aimed to understand the variation of soil physical attributes in an agricultural area in Machadinho d'Oeste. They looked at things like clay and sand content in the soil. The researchers collected 76 samples and found that the soil types were mainly Oxisols and Ultisols. They discovered that real density is closely related to coarse sand content. The study showed that clay, coarse sand, and real density had similar spatial patterns. Soils with high clay content were most common in the area. Geostatistics helped them analyze the spatial variability of these attributes.
