Diverse revenue boosts public spending in mayor-council governments, study finds.
The study looked at how different types of government and the variety of income sources affect how much money is spent by the government. They found that in cities with a mayor-council government and diverse sources of income, more money is spent. However, in cities with a council-manager government, more income sources do not lead to increased spending. This research helps us understand how the way a government is structured and where it gets its money from can impact public spending.
