New Study Shows Biosurfactants Boost TNT Removal from Contaminated Soil
The goal of the study was to clean up soil contaminated with TNT using a natural substance called rhamnolipid. The researchers used two pans filled with soil, one with rhamnolipid added and one without. After 154 days, they found that the soil treated with rhamnolipid had 73% of the TNT removed, while the untreated soil only had 58% removed. This shows that rhamnolipid is effective in helping to clean up TNT-contaminated soil.
