Optimal fertilizer levels boost potato yields in Western Ethiopia.
Potato growth and yield were studied in Ethiopia using different amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. The researchers found that the combination of phosphorus and potassium did not affect potato growth, but each fertilizer alone had a significant impact. The best results were seen with 200 kg of potassium per hectare and 138 kg of phosphorus per hectare. These amounts led to the highest yields of marketable and total tubers, as well as above and underground biomass. Lower yields were observed when no fertilizers were used.
