New Study Reveals Key to Improving Water Conservation in Arid Agriculture
The researchers used GIS technology and a hydrological model called SWAT to estimate runoff in an agricultural watershed with limited rainfall. They focused on the Jurala watershed in South India, where soil quality and irrigation methods affect water infiltration. By simulating runoff from 2000 to 2010, they found that SWAT model accurately predicted runoff in this semi-arid area, which is crucial for implementing effective water conservation strategies.
