Human activities driving significant decrease in streamflow in Yellow River tributary.
Climate variability and human activities have significantly decreased streamflow in the Jinghe River Basin. Researchers used statistical tests, climate elasticity, and hydrological modeling to assess the impacts. They found that climate change accounted for around 44-49% of the decrease, while water diversion and land use changes contributed to 20-35%. Overall, human activities were responsible for over half of the decrease in streamflow.
