The researchers studied how combining inorganic NP fertilizers and vermicompost affects the growth and seed yield of red onions in northern Ethiopia. They tested different levels of NP fertilizers and vermicompost on onion plants under irrigation. The results showed that using 75% of the recommended NP rate with 2.5 tons of vermicompost per hectare led to the highest seed yield, which was 263% higher than the control group. This combination improved plant height, days to maturity, number of umbels per plant, and seed weight per umbel. In conclusion, using a specific combination of fertilizers and vermicompost can significantly enhance the growth and yield of red onions in the area.
