The article presents a simplified method to calculate cooling loads for building envelopes in Central-South China. The researchers developed a model based on dynamic hourly calculations using EnergyPlus, considering various thermal factors. They defined the equivalent window to wall ratio and building orientation factor to study cooling loads. The model was validated with actual buildings, showing it accurately predicts cooling loads.
