Endangered medicinal plant survival linked to altitude and litter thickness.
Fuzzy set ordination analysis was used to study how different plant communities survive in a forest park in Beijing. The researchers looked at 89 plant species and 6 environmental factors in 25 areas. They found that altitude and litter thickness are important in determining the types of plant communities present. This information is crucial for protecting an endangered medicinal tree species called Phellodendron amurense.
