Alpine meadows on Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau crucial in global carbon cycle.
The researchers studied soil organic carbon in an alpine meadow on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. They found that the carbon content decreased with depth, with the top 10 cm having the highest amount. The total carbon stock in the soil was around 2950 tons, with most of it concentrated in the top 30 cm. Soil carbon content was influenced by factors like water content, porosity, and soil texture. This study helps us understand how alpine meadows play a role in the global carbon cycle and provides valuable data for managing these ecosystems.
