New method accurately estimates aquifer characteristics in South Western India.
Researchers developed a method to estimate aquifer characteristics by conducting pumping tests in a region of India. They found that the transmissivity of the aquifer decreases as the initial water level drops, indicating consistent water flow through different depths. The hydraulic conductivity, which affects water movement, was calculated from this relationship. The active part of the aquifer is in both weathered and fractured zones. However, the storage coefficient of the aquifer did not show a clear relationship with the initial water level.
