Farmers Boost Berseem Yields by Sowing Earlier and Increasing Seed Rates
Delaying the sowing of berseem from December 15 to January 30 reduces green fodder and seed yields. Sowing on December 15 gives higher yields compared to January sowings. Increasing seed rate from 25 to 45 kg/ha boosts fodder and seed yields, with 35 kg/ha being the most effective. Quality of harvested seeds is not affected by seed rates. For optimal seed production, sow berseem by December 30 with a seed rate of 35 kg/ha.
