Bangladesh achieves food self-sufficiency through agricultural advancements.
Livelihood security in rural Bangladesh heavily relies on agriculture, which has significantly improved since 1971. The country has benefited from the global "Green Revolution" by using high yielding seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation to triple food production over the last three decades. This increase in food production has led to self-sufficiency in 1996-1997. Agriculture not only provides food security but also creates employment opportunities, contributing to overall livelihood security in the region.
