Optimizing Nitrogen Application in Wheat Boosts Yield and Grain Quality.
The study focused on how to grow wheat with high yield and quality by using nitrogen fertilizer effectively. Different types of wheat need different amounts of nitrogen to produce grain, and the right nitrogen levels vary for strong-gluten, medium-gluten, and weak-gluten wheat. For example, to get high yields with good protein content, strong-gluten wheat needs about 3.2 kg of nitrogen per 100 kg of grain and a utilization rate of 68%. Medium-gluten wheat requires about 2.9 kg and 55%, while weak-gluten wheat needs about 2.5 kg and 50% to achieve lower yields with lower protein content.
