New technology slashes harmful emissions from fossil fuel combustion
Fossil fuel combustion produces harmful gases like NOx and N2O. Using oxy-fuel combustion in fluidized bed boilers can reduce these emissions. The study found that NOx formation is limited in oxy-fluidized bed compared to air mode. Techniques like flue gas recirculation and oxygen staging can further reduce NOx emissions. By combining primary and secondary reduction methods, significant decreases in NOx emissions can be achieved.
