Gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) is a process that turns trash into a useful gas called syngas. This gas can be used to make electricity, heat, chemicals, and other fuels. The process is better than burning trash because it produces less pollution. A new pilot-scale gasification process has been developed to make electricity more efficiently and with fewer harmful emissions.
