Toxic Weihe River Pollutes Drinking Water for Millions in China
The water quality along the Weihe River in Shaanxi was studied from 2006 to 2009. Results showed that most sections had poor water quality, with serious pollution exceeding standards. The main pollutants were chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N). To improve water quality, measures like adjusting industrial structure, enforcing sewage standards, and enhancing sewage treatment were recommended.
