Optimal sowing date and weed management boost mungbean yield and profits
The researchers studied how different planting dates and weed control methods affected the growth and yield of mungbean plants. They found that planting mungbeans on June 20 resulted in taller plants, more seeds per pod, and higher yields. Using a specific herbicide followed by hand-weeding led to even better results, with increased plant height, more pods per plant, and higher seed yields. This method also greatly reduced weed growth, resulting in higher profits for farmers. Additionally, the weeds removed a significant amount of nutrients from the soil, which was reduced when effective weed management was implemented.
