Last Millennium Study Reveals North Atlantic Oscillation Impact on China's Summer Rainfall
The study looked at how the North Atlantic Oscillation affects summer rainfall in eastern China over the past 1,000 years. Using a global climate model, researchers found that when the North Atlantic Oscillation is in a positive phase, there is more rain in southern China and less in the north, and vice versa. They discovered that this connection is mainly through a pattern that stretches from the North Atlantic to East Asia.
