Flood-prone communities to benefit from advanced runoff modeling
This research aimed to figure out how rainwater flows during storms in a specific river area in China. Scientists divided the area into small sections and used a computer program to calculate how water moves over the land and in the rivers. They studied eight storms and found that their method predicted the water flow very accurately, with an average of 94% efficiency. This means they can estimate how water moves during storms in this region quite well.
