Untreated wastewater from cotton plant polluting environment in Cameroon.
The study looked at the water quality of wastewater from a cotton processing plant in Maroua, Cameroon. They tested various parameters like temperature, pH, and oxygen levels in the water. The results showed that most of these parameters were higher than safe levels, especially during the rainy season. The plant uses untreated borehole water, which may contribute to the pollution in the wastewater. The wastewater is discharged without treatment or quality checks due to lax regulations and lack of government oversight.
