The kingdoms of Kurdistan had political power in the second millennium BC, after Mitani's strong kingdom. One Kurdish group and the Kashians built a strong kingdom in Babylon. They had relationships with neighboring kingdoms, especially the Hittite kingdom in Asia Minor. The relationships were hostile between some kingdoms and Mitani, but peaceful with the Hittites.
