Integrated weed management boosts lentil yield and profits in Bihar fields.
The researchers conducted a field experiment to find the best way to control weeds and improve lentil yield in Bihar's alluvial soils. They tested different weed management methods and found that using a combination of herbicides and hand weeding resulted in fewer weeds and higher lentil yields. Specifically, applying pendimethalin before planting and then hand weeding at 40 days after sowing gave the best results. This approach also led to higher crop growth, better seed yield, and increased profits for farmers.
