India's Coking Coal Crisis: Innovative Approach Unlocks Untapped Reserves for Sustainable Steel Production
The Indian coal industry faces a challenge with the depletion of good quality coking coal for making iron and steel. Lower quality coking coals are being used, but current methods of washing them are not producing the needed quality. This results in these coals being sent to thermal power plants instead of being used for metallurgical purposes. A new cost-effective and eco-friendly approach has been proposed to better utilize these lower quality coking coals.
