Land cover thresholds revealed to control runoff and soil loss effectively.
The study looked at how different amounts of vegetation on land affect runoff and soil loss. They set up small plots in Iran and measured these factors. Rainfall had a bigger impact than land cover on soil loss and runoff. Land cover had a bigger impact on soil loss than on runoff. They found two important thresholds: having 10-30% vegetation cover and 50-70% vegetation cover can help control soil loss and runoff.
