A nanostructure model was used to predict how different types of aluminum behave when crushed. The model accurately simulated the crushing of aluminum profiles without needing to adjust the model based on physical tests. The simulations matched well with actual tests, showing that the nanostructure model can be trusted for designing energy-absorbing aluminum structures.
