The researchers studied European larch forests of different ages to estimate their aboveground biomass. They measured 96 trees in 12 forest stands and found that biomass increased with stand age, size, and volume, but decreased with density. They developed equations and models to better estimate biomass, filling a gap in knowledge about larch forests and helping to improve carbon pool assessments in forests.
