New diets boost nutritional quality of common carp, benefiting consumers.
The study looked at how different diets affect the quality of common carp. Three diets were tested: maize, extruded feed, and pelleted feed. The results showed that the type of diet influenced the protein, fat, moisture, and ash content in the carp. The most common fatty acids found in the carp were palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. Carp fed with extruded feed had the best balance of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids. Overall, using extruded or pelleted feed instead of maize improved the nutritional quality of the carp.
