Managers are looking to cut costs in purchasing processes. They want to choose the best suppliers for long-term partnerships. A computer-based expert system called CES helps with this. CES has four parts: Configuration, Supplier Evaluation, Supplier Selection, and Supplier Performance Monitoring. The system was tested and found to match the decisions of purchasing managers in two companies.
