Stormwater treatment train in Queensland effectively removes heavy metals and pollutants
A study in southeast Queensland monitored stormwater runoff from a residential area for over 4 years. They used a system with rainwater tanks, mesh baskets, and media filters to clean the water. The filters removed a good amount of pollutants like dirt, nutrients, and heavy metals. The system worked best when the water had higher levels of these pollutants. Overall, the treatment train effectively reduced the levels of copper, zinc, dirt, phosphorus, and nitrogen in the stormwater. The filters have been working well without any major issues for almost 5 years.
