Land subsidence exacerbates flooding in Semarang, Indonesia, despite flood control efforts.
The study focused on flood control in Madukoro area, Semarang City, Indonesia. Researchers analyzed water levels and flow in different channels using software. They found that increasing levee levels and adding water pumps could help control flooding. The results showed that the total runoff volume in drainage channels was high, and land subsidence was causing water levels to rise. However, using 2-4 pump units did not significantly reduce water levels during peak floods but helped extend the time it takes for floodwaters to recede.
