MQL machining reduces health risks and costs in manufacturing industry.
The study looked at how using minimal quantity lubrication (MQL) instead of wet machining affects the distortion of head-cylinders. By modeling the thermo-mechanical effects, the researchers found that MQL machining can reduce distortions in the parts. Factors like part temperature, clamping, and heat transfer during machining all play a role in this. The results matched well with real-world experiments, showing that MQL machining is a promising alternative for improving machining conditions without compromising part quality.
