Organophosphate pesticide impacts immune response in Nile tilapia.
The study looked at how a pesticide called chlorpyrifos affects the immune system of Nile tilapia fish. The researchers found that low levels of chlorpyrifos didn't change the immune response much, but at higher levels, it caused a decrease in a certain protein in the fish's blood. However, the fish exposed to high levels of the pesticide showed an increase in a type of enzyme that helps fight off infections.
