Regional innovation investments drive growth, but international introductions hinder progress.
The article explores how to improve innovation in China's biomedical industry by balancing independent innovation and open innovation. By analyzing innovation networks in different regions and using input-output theory, the study found that regional R&D investment boosts innovation, but international introduction can hinder it. Intra-regional collaboration enhances the positive impact of R&D investment on innovation, while inter-regional collaboration can have mixed effects. The research suggests optimizing independent innovation strategies in an open innovation environment and provides recommendations for enhancing open innovation in line with independent innovation policies.
