Albanian banks shift towards local currency loans, boosting economic growth.
The study looked at what factors influence banks in Albania to give out loans in the local currency instead of foreign currency. They found that economic growth, interest rate differences, where banks get their money from, and the interest rates they charge all play a role in this decision. On the other hand, the level of bad loans and the difference in interest rates between local and foreign currencies can make banks less likely to give out loans in the local currency. This shows that different things can affect whether people in Albania get loans in their own currency or not.
