New method reveals best coffee species for highest antioxidant content!
Coffee leaves contain beneficial compounds called chlorogenic acids (CGAs). A study developed a method to measure three main CGAs in coffee leaf extracts. Different coffee species were grown and analyzed. The method was sensitive and accurate, detecting low levels of CGAs. Results showed variations in CGA levels among species and harvest times. Some species had higher CGA content than others. The study identified the species with the best CGA to caffeine ratio. Overall, the study provides valuable information on the CGA content in coffee leaves, which could have implications for their traditional medicinal use.
