Researchers studied how mouse and rat cells interact in embryos. They found that when mixing these cells, the contribution of rat cells was lower and led to abnormalities or death. Different organs had varying levels of rat cells, suggesting specific molecules are needed for organ development. When using rat cells to create embryos, they survived until placental formation, but no further.
