Human activities in Yangtze River causing significant erosion and sediment reduction.
The study looked at how human activities affect erosion and sediment in the Yangtze River. They found that building reservoirs is the main factor reducing sediment, followed by soil and water conservation efforts. Other activities like sand mining also play a role. In one part of the river, 33.64 million tons of sediment are reduced each year, with reservoirs accounting for 64% of the reduction and conservation efforts for 36%.
