Turkey's Ambitious Coal Expansion Faces Emissions Challenge: Clean Coal Tech Urgently Needed
Coal is a major source of electricity worldwide, but burning it creates harmful emissions. To make coal energy cleaner, scientists are developing technologies known as clean coal technologies. This article looks at how these technologies are progressing globally and evaluates their potential use in Turkey, which plans to increase its coal power capacity. The research finds that Turkey is in the early stages of developing these technologies and suggests that the country should initially import them from more advanced nations while also investing in local research. By doing this, Turkey can expand its coal power plants without causing a spike in greenhouse gas emissions. The study aims to help researchers worldwide understand clean coal technologies better and advise Turkish authorities on creating a sustainable future for coal-based energy.
