Parametric models are important in digital architectural design, allowing designers to easily make changes without starting from scratch. This study aimed to define the specifications for building a parametric model. The researchers found that parametric modeling is mostly used in the development, detailing, and manufacturing stages of design. They also discovered that designers use a mix of specific and general knowledge, define design variables in both quantitative and qualitative terms, and often share one parametric model among different design disciplines.
