Transforming Democracy: Adapting Western Ideals to Non-Western Countries
Democracy is a system where the power comes from the people, for the people, and by the people. When Western democracy is applied in non-Western countries, it needs time to adjust to the new environment. The main focus of this paper is on how democracy is put into practice in constitutional life. The researchers used normative law as their method. They found that democracy can be based on freedom and equality, progress in social and economic matters, or a combination of both.
