Interpreting research in health psychology enhances scientific rigour and reliability.
Qualitative research in health psychology is gaining popularity for studying human behavior in health and illness. Critics often question the interpretative basis of qualitative research. However, interpretation is essential in all psychology research. By making interpretation procedures explicit, scientific rigor and reliability can be improved. Reflexivity, or reflecting on the researcher's position in the research process, is a key tool to enhance the scientific quality of qualitative research in health psychology.
