New wetland technology successfully treats piggery wastewater, improving environmental standards in Nigeria.
A pilot-scale wetland was built to clean up pig farm wastewater in Nigeria. They used two types of plants in the wetland and monitored the water for 7 months. The wetland did a good job removing pollutants like BOD, COD, TDS, TN, and TP, meeting Nigerian standards. The planted cells worked best, showing that these plants are good for cleaning up the water. The wetland could be a good way to treat pig farm wastewater in Nigeria.
