Rapid urbanization destroys green spaces, fragmenting landscapes in metropolitan areas
The study looked at how the land in Tabriz city changed from 1996 to 2016. They used satellite images to see how urban areas grew and how this affected the landscape. They found that grasslands changed into bare and urban areas, making the landscape more fragmented and less connected. The closer to the city, the more organized the landscape became, but farther away, it became more scattered and diverse. Urbanization had different effects in different parts of the city, leading to changes in how the land was arranged.
