Vietnam stock market vulnerable to global oil price fluctuations
The study looked at how crude oil prices affect Vietnam's stock market from 2006 to 2015. They used different tests to see if there was a connection between the two. The results showed that while there is a long-term relationship between oil prices and the stock market, there is no direct link in all phases. Oil prices can impact stock prices, but this effect varies over time. In the last phase, when oil prices dropped, they didn't affect stock prices. This suggests that changes in oil prices can either help or hurt companies on the stock market. The study also found that in the short term, oil prices and stock prices tend to move together, but stock prices take a while to adjust after an oil price shock. The findings suggest that the government should focus on domestic production and trade to lessen the impact of energy price changes.
