Climate change and human activities equally responsible for declining river runoff.
Climate change and local human activities are causing a decrease in runoff in the upper reaches of the Luanhe River basin. By analyzing data from 1954 to 2000, researchers found that both factors contribute equally to the decline in annual runoff. Climate change leads to a decrease in monthly runoff, while human activities mainly affect runoff during flood season. This information can help in managing water resources in the area and other similar regions in northern China.
