New Maize Hybrids from U.S.A. Inbred Lines Boost Corn Production in China!
The study aimed to identify American maize inbred lines with good combining ability for yield and machine harvesting traits in China. By crossing 16 U.S.A. inbred lines with four Chinese lines, they found that certain American lines showed excellent general combining ability (GCA) for yield and machine harvesting characteristics. Specific hybrid combinations like NL001×Chang7-2 and LH212Ht×Chang7-2 exhibited superior specific combining ability (SCA) for these traits. NL001×Chang7-2, 6M502A×Chang7-2, LH212Ht×Chang7-2, LH181×four-287, and PHW51×Chang7-2 were identified as having great potential for future use in corn production in Inner Mongolia.
